Flowers for the new family
Where is it going?
Three destinations, three different answers. Find yours before you pick a bouquet — it is the difference between a delivery that arrives and one that is turned away at the desk.
Maternity or postpartum floor
Flowers are normally welcome
Maternity floors usually accept fresh flowers, and arrangements arrive in a vase so the ward does not have to find one. Send the mother’s full name as admitted, the hospital street address, and the room number if you have it.
How hospital delivery worksNICU or special care nursery
No flowers, no plants
Neonatal intensive care does not allow fresh flowers or plants at the bedside. Do not send to the unit — send to the family’s home address instead. The parents are at the hospital all day, and it is waiting for them when they get back.
Send to the house insteadThe family’s home
Anything you like
Once they are home there are no ward rules to work around, and someone is usually there to take a delivery. Baskets and keepsakes make sense here: there is somewhere to put them and nothing to carry out of a hospital.
See gifts for the houseOne more hospital rule: latex balloons are banned in hospitals because of allergy risk, so a hospital order gets mylar only. If you are not sure which unit the baby is on, ask us before ordering — it is faster than redirecting a delivery afterwards.
Gender-neutral, first
Most people ordering for a new baby either have not been told the sex or would rather not assume it. Yellows, whites, greens and mixed pastels say congratulations without deciding anything.

If they have already told you
Then by all means. This block is smaller than the one above on purpose — it is the narrower case, not the better one.
Sending to the house
This is the right answer if the baby is in neonatal care, if you are not sure the family is still admitted, or if the birth was more than a day or two ago. Baskets and keepsakes belong here rather than in a hospital room: someone can take the delivery, and nothing has to be carried home afterwards. From $69.99, delivery included.

When to send, and where it should land
The day of the birth
Hospital, if she is on a maternity floor
This is the window where a hospital delivery works best. Visitors are coming and going, the room is the center of the day, and the flowers are seen by everyone who comes in.
Day two or three
Check before you send to the ward
After an uncomplicated birth many families are discharged within a day or two, and wards do not forward flowers to a home address. If you are not certain they are still admitted, use the home address.
The first weeks at home
Home, and this window is underrated
The visitors have stopped, the help has gone back to work, and the days are long. Flowers arriving now are not late — they land in the quietest part of it.
New baby delivery questions
- Can you deliver flowers to a maternity ward?
- Yes. Maternity and postpartum floors normally accept fresh flowers, and arrangements arrive in a vase. Give us the mother’s full name as she was admitted, the hospital street address, and the unit or room number if you have it. Reception desks can usually route a delivery by name alone.
- Can flowers be sent to a baby in the NICU?
- No. Neonatal intensive care units and special care nurseries do not allow fresh flowers or plants at the bedside. Send to the family’s home address instead, or to a grandparent or friend who is there to receive it.
- Are balloons allowed in a hospital?
- Mylar balloons only. Latex balloons are banned in hospitals because of allergy risk, so a latex balloon is substituted or removed from a hospital order.
- What should I send if I do not know whether it is a boy or a girl?
- Send a gender-neutral arrangement. Yellows, whites, greens and mixed pastels all read as congratulations without committing to a color, which is the safe choice when the parents have not announced a sex yet, or when you would rather not assume one.
- Is it better to send to the hospital or to the house?
- The hospital on the day of the birth, the house after that. Stays after an uncomplicated birth are often short, wards do not forward flowers, and everything in the room has to be carried home. If you are ordering more than a day or two after the birth, the home address is the reliable choice.
- How late can I order for same-day delivery?
- Orders for eligible arrangements placed by 2:00 PM recipient local time, Monday to Saturday, are delivered today. After 2:00 PM you choose the next available delivery date at checkout before paying. Delivery is free on all orders and there are no service fees.
